2019 - A Year to thrive
"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." - Maya Angelou
Several years ago, inspired by the "Happiness" series of books by Gretchen Rubin, I began identifying my word for the new year. For 2019, I was toying with several different ways to express my desire for growth in the upcoming year. The word "THRIVE" just kept coming back to me. I did a little research and found the above quote by Maya Angelou and knew I was on the right track. My 2018 felt greatly like an exercise in survival, in contrast this year I intend to thrive.
I have selected a theme for each month based on the areas in my life that I where I would like to see progress. Some months will focus on habit change, some on elimination experiments, some on curating the best life for me; all will mean a change to move forward. While my list is not set in stone for the entire 12 months, my focus in January will be specifically on my writing. To be more specific, I am committed to writing everyday. Some days may become a blog post, others perhaps just random rambling, but I will put thoughts into words every day Jan 2-31 (Yes, I took the 1st as a holiday).
So here is the beginning, January 2. My plan is to just add posts to my blog as they come to fruition, and then send you, my subscribers, a weekly link to the new posts just so I do not bombard your inbox. If you would like to see the posts more frequently, follow the links as they are posted on my Facebook account.
The "new year's resolution" has never played out well for me, but I like this method of having some framework for my year. I would love to hear what intentions, plans, or goals you have for 2019! Join me in the pursuit of a mindful life.
